Roll on Roll off Ship Loading
RoRo-ships (Roll on – Roll off) are the ships, which are used for transporting wheeled goods. Thus, it is mostly concerned with a combination of cars, trucks or also trains, which board on their own over the ramp or through the gates on the bow, stern or on the side of the ship. The inner space of the Roll on Roll off-ship is thus subdivided into several decks, which stretch across the entire length of the ship.

Specific types of Roll on Roll off-ships represent a car-carrier. Their decks are lower, and they are exclusively designed for the transport of cars.
Considerably short loading and unloading time is the advantage of the Roll on Roll off-ships as compared to the conventional container ships. The disadvantage is the inferior space utilisation, which affects the entire transport capacity and thus leads to higher costs per volume unit in comparison with the conventional container ship.
Focus on commercial vehicles
Roll on Roll off-ships operate on few routes and their frequency is lower as compared to the container ships. Due to all these reasons, for transporting an individual car, shipping in a container is a reasonable option in most of the cases. We recommend shipping by Roll on Roll off-Ship for larger utility vehicles (truck, agricultural machinery, etc.) as in their case the dimensions rule out the shipment by container.
