- As recently as in 2013, the new airport of Quito, which is the destination of many airline companies, was opened. The airport in the capital city has a significantly long runway and lesser incline than the old and makes the transportation easy.
The most important airports of the country are in Quito (13 Airlines and 23 destinations), Guayaquil (10 Airlines and 19 destinations), San Cristóbal (4 Airlines and one destination) and Cuenca with two airlines and two destinations.
- In spite of modernisation of the air traffic, the sea route is the best variant for the shipment to Ecuador. It is mainly carried out via the seaports Guayaquil, Esmeraldas, Manta and the port of Posorja. Most of the ports operate several categories of ships.
The Republic of Ecuador is not a member of the European Union (EU) and does not belong to its customs area. For commercial transportation in the third country, you require a commercial invoice and an EORI-Number.
Handling of Goods – Facts and Figures
For a merchandise value above 1,000 €, an export declaration is necessary. If the goods are coming from the EU, a reference certificate should be produced. Many product groups such as fats and oils require an import licence. For cosmetics and medicines, certificates of free sale are necessary. For a merchandise value of 6,000 € and above, commercial invoice, export declaration, declaration of origin and movement certificate EUR.1 should be submitted.
