Domestic Transportation

According to the contractual regulations (Incoterms) between the parties, the onward carriage and thus also the domestic transportation for commercial containers shall be carried out either in the order of the Consignee or the Shipper. In case of removals, the shipper is generally same as the consignee. The clarity on who has issued the order for onward carriage to the agents or carriers is important for clarity of relationship between the executing freight forwarder and the shipping company, the transfer of containers and duty to pay the incurred additional costs like demurrage and detention.
